Lost

maybe I’m the one left behind
as the world moves in hurrying paces
or the first at the seashore –
lone survivor of this mammoth wreck?

maybe I’m just another grown toddler
who marks time on wobbling feet
or just an adept swimmer
who glides ahead of the herd

giddy. these sands are shifting.

am I a tossed coin on a gambler's table or
another Gulliver who lost his map?

it is ok to be both...

lost you say...but there can be adventure when trying to find your way back...and think of all the little new friends one can make!

Lovely verse

'these sands are shifting' have you ever seen kayaking, or heard the song on christ the solid rock i stand. The earth beneath you is always bound to shift, we all learn to glide and steady ourselves by holding on to what lies ahead.

you can do a lot to stand out from the crowd without being 'removed' from it.
you can do a lot to stand firm on your feet and not dwell on uncertainty.
I'm not too excited about flipping coins...

this might sound corny but i always get lost in your words...seriously great imagery.

perhaps u're map is not lost, instead, it just needs to be modified by you and approved by the Big Boss.

I've been told that I'm some sort of a control freak - always wanting to be on top of goings-on. I don't necessarily like suprises. Hence, the 12 seconds of suspense while the coin is doing backflips, don't really float my boat. lol.

While everybody says brilliant things about Aloofar's brilliant post, I welcome myself to this brilliant blog. Wow! why did I think Aloofar would be female?

Invisible said...

Ok, considering this is my first reading your posts, I'll say I'm lost too. But I'm sure with time the shifting sand will settle and I'll find my footing.
Thanks for dropping by, btw.

Oh dear. Sometimes we feel lost once in a while but you will find your way am sure.

Great lyrics.

Parakeet said...

Ah I remember that book Gullivers travel. Aloof and far, lets talk. You're into advertising so you'll know what am on abt. I dont know what stage advertsing is in Nija but here they used to sell to a mass market then they moved to a niche market and now its all about symbolisation, emotionalisation and individualisation. Everything is assumption. The world is moving this way therefore it will be easier to sell to them as a group with similar interests and identity. Until they discovered wait a minute not everyone is the same and they changed tactics. Have still they got it right? I doubt.

My point? Well thing is we can never be the same, pace, intellect everything. We live in the same whole world. The populace maybe moving vertically but it doesn't mean if you move horizontally there's something wrong with you. Find your pace in whatever pace you are able to and you will soon come to your own. Take care love...and we're still friends. Dont go doing a MIA on me!

badderchic said...

My apologies, I shall be patient while you search.

Ekoakete said...

Everyine can relate with this post...and being lost at one point ...many points in life.
What's important is that you find out where you are as quickly as possible or go back the way you came and restrategize.

Aloofar, you know you can.

Waffarian said...

Once I read someone I know say: "It's useless trying to label yourself."

I kinda agree with him, but not totally. Because when you try to compare yourself with "The World", you do yourself a crime. You try to bring yourself down to the level of the common.

But what is a label? it is used to describe you, not define you. So when you try to find out what you are and where you stand in the world, it's not your perspective, it's the world's perspective you're looking at.

But do the opposite, and you're a strung arrow. Label yourself to be what you want to be, from your perspective, and you will become that.

P.S. Excuse me for the huge comment, couldn't help myself. :D

the one left behind as the world moves in hurrying paces
or the first at the seashore – the
lone survivor of this mammoth wreck?

maybe i'm the odd one
just another grown toddler who marks time on wobbling feet
perhaps I’m an adept swimmer

maybe i'm the odd one

another Gulliver who lost his map?
